Russia is the largest country in the world with the total area 17 075 400
square kilometers,
 that is about 1,8 times the size of the USA.
Russian culture has a long history and tradition and Russians are very proud
of it.
It is perhaps the country's combination of diverse landscapes, stunning
cities and mysterious nature that have begun to attract increasing numbers
of tourists eager to discover modern Russia for themselves in recent years.
Even more visitors are set to flood the country in 2018 when Russia will act
as host for the World Cup games.
There are a lot of places to see in Russia: Golden Ring - Several
ancient towns of great historical, architectural and spiritual significance
make up the Golden Ring, a fe w hours drive northeast from Moscow. They are a
rich collection of citadels, monasteries, cathedrals and fortresses. These
can be visited on day trips from Moscow. Since many of the towns were
founded on river banks, a cruise is a pleasant way of discovering the
region; Moscow -
the capital with masses of history, action and must-see spectacles, such as
the stunning architecture of Red Square. Theatre, music, and art are a
primary part of city's life; Saint Petersburg - one of the world's
most beautiful cities, with many phenomenal buildings, palaces and museums,
including the wonderful Hermitage Museum. The city is spread over 42 islands
in the delta of the River Neva, giving it its nickname of the “Venice of the
North” and many others.
As for the food culture - Breakfast is often similar to that eaten in
Scandinavian countries, with cold meats, boiled eggs and bread served with
Russian tea. For the midday and evening meal the food is often more
traditional, again depending on the region.
Regional specialties are Kasha (porridge) is a staple breakfast dish,
made with milk and oats, buckwheat or semolina; Blini (small
pancakes filled with caviar, fish, melted butter or sour cream); Ponchiki
(hot sugared doughnuts); Pirozhky (fried rolls with different
fillings, usually meat); Borshct (a beetroot soup served hot with sour
cream); Pelmeni (meat dumplings).
